Three-storey Hide had been mentioned by our buddies in the UK who had been to both Ground (more casual a la carte) and Above (tasting menu only) at the much-talked about Mayfair restaurant. An indoor car lift, a gigantic spiral staircase…The only thing to do was experience Hide for ourselves.
Although Galvin Dubai (from Michelin-starred chef brothers Chris and Jeff Galvin) retains the brand’s signature French-English touch, they’ve also catered to their new audience by adding a Mediterranean basin flair. That means homages to Italian, Southern French, and North African cuisine in what they call “flavours of the sun”.
Chef Niklas Ekstedt took a concept that many people said was too difficult to execute properly and proved otherwise. His eponymous restaurant Ekstedt was awarded a Michelin star in 2013 and has consistently been listed in everything from the World’s 50 Best Restaurants to the most essential restaurants to visit in Stockholm.
When heading to Stockholm (yet again because I just can’t get enough of the city these days), I asked three of my local buddies and even the PR head of another top restaurant in Stockholm for food recommendations.
