WHAT WE’RE TALKING ABOUT: ST. REGIS BALI

The search is over. You can stop looking and just enjoy paradise because it’s at the St. Regis Hotel in Bali. Think pristine sand beaches, deep salt water lagoons, and a tropical sun hanging out in a clear blue sky as it warms you up.

THE REVIEW

Nusa Dua is a quiet luxury resort just off the beaten track, perfect for a romantic trip for two. If you’re lucky enough to be swept away on a surprise holiday (as I was!), you might be greeted with a bouquet of red roses and charming staff before being led by Adi (our personal butler) to what can only be described as a room designed for a King and Queen.

The Orchid Suite was absolutely stunning, almost as beautiful as our surroundings. And then there was the extra luxury of having Adi and his colleagues on hand throughout the whole trip, from unpacking our cases and topping up fresh fruit bowls every day through to surprising us on a daily basis with delectable chocolate treats from Gourmand Deli. It really was the icing on the cake. Of course, if you really want to go to town, as our new gorgeous friends Sanford and Alexandria did, then opt for the “out of this world” Gardenia Villa.

During the days, we lapped up the rays on our luxe sun loungers overlooking the gorgeous beach before spending the afternoons floating around the most magnificent saltwater lagoon. Inevitably, we’d then end up at the pool bar for a couple of Passionflora Mojitos.

The evenings were spent mainly at the hotel’s signature restaurant Kayuputi and the King Cole Cocktail Bar.

Although I’ll admit we didn’t get to see as much of the island as I would have liked, we still managed to drag ourselves out of the hotel for sundowners at the Double Six Rooftop bar in Seminyak before supper at the hip and happening Ku De Ta. There was one place that stole our hearts, though, and that was El Kabron – an absolute hidden gem perched 50 metres above sea level in the cliff tops. Never did I think that beyond the rustic Spanish-style doors would be the equivalent of an Ibiza-esque beach club with a resident DJ!
